Canon is a leading supplier of imaging and office equipment. Canon focuses on creating energy- and resource-efficient products, as well as eliminating hazardous substances. The company actively promotes recyclability in design, utilizes green procurement policies, and is aggressively working to reduce its climate change impact. Over 90% of Canon's product line is Energy Star certified, and energy consumed by its business machine products has decreased 30% from the year 2000. Canon's comprehensive life-cycle assessment system drives environmental improvements for its products. In addition to manufacturing office equipment, Canon has recently launched Canon Environmental Solutions, a consulting service that assists customers in increasing material productivity, establishing green procurement programs, and in reducing costs in manufacturing. Portfolio 21 has asked the company to reduce its use of waste-to-energy processing.
