American Superconductor
United States
American Superconductor (AMSC) develops and manufactures a wide variety of products used to increase the capacity and reliability of the energy grid. The majority of AMSC's revenues are derived from products and services for the wind power industry. AMSC also supplies electrical and electronic products to a variety of industries, including the utility, transportation, and industrial sectors. AMSC offers energy solutions based on high temperature superconductor wires that significantly increase energy efficiency for electrical power distribution by carrying electrical current with no resistance. AMSC's research and development activities and its strategic acquisitions have made it a leader in the wind energy market and the power grid market. AMSC is increasingly focusing on developing overseas markets, particularly in emerging economies. While these countries have a great need for efficient and renewable energy systems, we have asked AMSC to establish formal environmental management systems for any operations in developing nations.
