Portfolio 21 Investments has been a pioneer in the field of social and environmental investing since 1982.
Our concerns about the ecological crisis began nearly three decades ago, and we continue to critically examine our assumptions and approach every day. We designed Portfolio 21 Investments to address the ecological risks and opportunities of the investment process in the 21st century.
Portfolio 21 Investments was founded by the same individuals who are directors of the company today. We are independent and majority owned by our employees. This independence gives us the autonomy to think for ourselves without the influence of outside shareholders or a parent company.
We offer investors four options:
- Portfolio 21, a global equity mutual fund. The minimum for Standard Accounts is $5,000 and Retirement Accounts have a $1,000 minimum. An institutional share class is also available.
- Separate account portfolio management offers individually managed portfolios specific to the client's risk and return objectives. The minimum investment is $5 million.
- Local Economies Income Fund, a private fixed income fund investing in the local economies of the greater Pacific Northwest.
- Upstream 21, a private equity holding company helping to keep local companies local in the Pacific Northwest.
Our main office is located in the Ecotrust Natural Capital Center in Portland, Oregon—a building that serves as the hub for many environmental organizations and activities in one of the most sustainable cities in the country.
